I moved to Budapest and here’s what I’ve learned
The wait is over, I am here in Budapest and I’ll be living here for 4-5 months.
How crazy is that?! When I wandered around the streets of Budapest for 5 hours back in October, the idea that I’ll be living here one day in the future didn’t cross my mind. Heck, I wasn’t even sure if I’ll ever come back to Budapest for even a short trip or vacation.
But life has a funny way of surprising us, doesn’t it?
Now that I’ve spent more than a week here, there are some things that I learned along the way. For example:
I have a weird addiction to grocery shopping. I’ve never realised until now that I could go to the supermarket every day if someone let me and gave me the money. It’s like my brain is always searching for an excuse to go shopping. Not a great obsession for my bank account.
Also, apparently, adult life is all about thinking what to have for lunch/dinner, buying groceries for that lunch/dinner, cooking, washing dishes and then again thinking of what to eat for the next lunch. Man, it’s tiring.
On a less food-related note, Budapest is gorgeous and its architecture is a real stunner. I can already feel my Instagram account being reborn.
By the way, I found out that Hungarian is quite a fascinating language to learn or at least observe. Their word and sentence structure is easy to learn but sounds very weird when translated into English. Look it up, fellow linguists! You won’t be disappointed.
I’m still trying to get accustomed to living here, so there isn’t much to share. For now, enjoy all these shots that I took during the first week in this beautiful city.
Oh, and I almost forgot! Check out the video that my friend/flatmate made of our first week. Don’t forget to share some love!
