Because there is an underlying idea planted in many people’s heads that students don’t have time for anything but studying and they are also living on a tight budget. So this is why travel is considered a luxury in the eyes of students.

Going on holiday is nice but that isn’t the only way you can see the world. There are plenty of opportunities, especially for students, that give unique chances to explore new countries and cultures. Some of them even offer financial support which is a win-win.

The most obvious option when you are a student is to go on a study abroad program. Either as a full-time student in a foreign country or only as a part-time student with programs such as Erasmus.
I did my own fair share of studying abroad both with my bachelor and master studies and I highly recommend to anyone who is thinking about it to just go for it.
I spent a semester studying in Budapest, Hungary and another in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Both experiences were so completely different but amazing in their own way.
The best thing about study abroad programs is that they often offer you financial support, so you can enjoy your study abroad without worrying about money.
Internships
Another great opportunity to travel is to apply for an internship abroad. If your studies require you to do an internship, why not go abroad instead of finding one in your country?

If you are into an academic lifestyle, conferences are a great way to travel without breaking your budget. Usually, universities and colleges cover your travel and other expenses if you decide to go to a conference related to your field, especially if you are a participant at that.
All you need to do is ask your supervisor to keep you updated on any future conferences that you could take part in or just spend some time browsing on the Internet trying to find something suitable.
Even if the conference is 2 or 3 days short, you will still get enough time to see the city.
