If you’re more into history than art, you most likely want to visit The White House and Museum of the Confederacy. It is located in the historic Court End neighbourhood and is all about Civil War history.
Also, if you’re more into literature or pop culture, Richmond has you covered. Did you know that famous American author Edgar Allan Poe used to live there? You can even visit his house which is now the Edgar Allan Poe Museum.
Speaking of famous people, there is Hollywood Cemetery. Here rest well-known Confederates such as Jefferson Davis and Presidents such as James Monroe and many more well-known figures.
There is also Maymont, which is an American estate with a beautiful garden, and Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden for those who enjoy nature and are interested in plants.

One of the best places to eat in Richmond is Mama J’s Kitchen. It is rated one of the best restaurants in the city. Since it’s quite a famous place, you might need to wait a little to get a table but it will be worth it.
If you want something more posh and rich for your lunch, take a look at Tobacco Company Restaurant. It serves drool-worthy dishes for an affordable price.
A good place for a short coffee break or simple lunch is Garnett’s Cafe. It’s a small cozy cafe with delicious cakes and simply amazing sandwiches.
