The Greek Islands
Our first blockbuster destination is the world-famous Greek Islands. They remain a bucket list destination for many international travelers, but film fans especially will want to immerse themselves in this beautiful part of the world.
Many films that have had a major influence on popular culture have been shot in the Greek Islands (at least in part). And whilst tourists are often drawn to the more commercialized islands like Mykonos or Santorini, film producers often choose to shine a light on the beauty of the lesser-known spots. For example, the island of Amorgos welcomed the cast and crew of the 1988 production of The Big Blue, whilst the Aegean jewel of Skopelos provided the backdrop for some of the most iconic scenes in the classic musical Mamma Mia.

Monaco
Monaco is as popular amongst Hollywood A-listers as it is with everyday travelers. This sovereign city-state encapsulates all the beauty and mystique we associate with the French Riviera, and movie producers throughout the years have been quick to capitalize on its natural charm.
Fans of 007 will be very well accustomed to the conspicuous appearance of Monaco, with its grand buildings and casinos featuring heavily in both Never Say Never Again and GoldenEye. But you don’t have to know your Craig’s from your Connery’s to appreciate the grandeur of this setting. You may also recognize it from features such as Iron Man 2 and the eponymous classic Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo.
Beyond the bright lights of the casinos and supercars, there is so much more to explore on a trip to Monaco. History and culture emanate from the many fascinating buildings and museums throughout the principality, whilst sunseekers won’t be shy in heading to the picturesque Larvotto Beach, with its golden sands and azure waters.
Norway
The undulating and majestic mountainscape of Norway is well known for attracting filmmakers from all over the world. With deep gorges and soaring peaks, this expansive wilderness is nothing if not perfect for panoramic views. The frozen lake Langvann features in the 2021 Bond movie, No Time to Die, as does the stunning Atlantic Road where Daniel Craig enjoyed a thrilling car chase as part of his final role as the beloved secret agent.
Fans of the ever-expanding Star Wars universe will recognize the wintery snowscape of Finse, where the glacier Hardangerjøkulen played a pivotal role in The Empire Strikes Back. There are multiple hiking routes and trails to explore around this area, and you could even stay in the hotel Finse 1222, where the cast and crew laid their heads back in 1979 when shooting the iconic film.
