How To Find The Best Blogging Niche For You

How To Find The Best Blogging Niche For You

One of the most discussed topics in the blogging community is niches. We all hear how it’s important to find that one niche and stick to it, so today I decided to blog about all I know about finding the right blogging niche for yourself.

Let’s be honest right now, shall we? Almost all bloggers started blogging in a different niche than they are now. One of the reasons why they weren’t in the right niche from the start is because they didn’t know what they wanted to do or they simply didn’t spend enough time trying to figure out what they enjoy the most and what they could do.

I experienced this myself too. I started out like the most of the bloggers by writing beauty posts, hauls, monthly favourites and so on. Few months in, I noticed that as much as I enjoyed blogging, I wasn’t sure that I’m in a right niche. I wasn’t so passioned about beauty and, to be completely honest with you, I knew nothing about it compared to other beauty bloggers.

So I decided to quit pretending like I know beauty and start searching niche that I would truly passionate about. I didn’t want blogging to only be an activity for a simple time passing, I wanted to achieve something with blogging, I wanted it to have an impact either on me or on others. I started thinking and after some time I finally have found a niche in which I felt comfortable and even excited. As you can see, I am lifestyle blogger who wants to inspire others to seek their happiness and goals. I think it’s a pretty damn good niche and I do feel like I am on a right track here.

But enough about me, let’s talk about you and how you can find the right niche for your blog. I have a few simple questions that you need to ask yourself in order to find the right niche for you:

What are you passioned about?

Ask yourself and think good what really makes you excited once you start talking about it. What is so interesting and exciting to you that it can even keep you up at night? What are those things that you want to learn more about and always get hyped when they are mentioned? Is it photography? Is it cupcakes? Or maybe you just love organising? Find that thing or few that really drive you and spark a passion.

What are your hobbies?

This might be obvious but some people tend to overlook this question, and I have no idea why. You need to identify your hobbies and don’t confuse passions with hobbies. Passions give you something to work or go forward to, while hobbies are those things that bring us joy, maybe relaxation or help us escape reality. So what are your hobbies? Do you love taking photographs? Do you enjoy hiking? Maybe you like reading books?

What are your strengths?

Now, this is a really important part. When you have all your passions, hobbies listed out, you need to think hard about where you are the strongest at. What are you better at than others? What is the one thing that makes you different from all those other people who have the same hobbies or passions? Find that one thing that you could teach if you were a teacher and that you can do a bit better than usual. For me, it’s staying positive and being productive. What about you?

What do you want to achieve with your blog?

Lastly, what are your intentions? What do you want to achieve by blogging? It doesn’t necessarily need to be the very goal or something out of ordinary. Just think about at least one thing that you would love to achieve with this blog of yours. One of the achievements that I set to reach with The Nerdy Me is to inspire more people to live more positively. Of course, there are a lot more things I want to achieve but I decided to set this one as the main goal. What will be your blog goal?

Now that you answered all these questions, you should be able to identify at least two or three niches that you could fit in. It’s all up to you to decide which one is the best one for you. Don’t be afraid to change your niche in the long run if you feel like you made a mistake and it isn’t for you. Things happen and we can only learn from them and change the direction if needed.

Just make sure that all of your answers to those questions relate in a way. Don’t set your blogging niche to photography tips if you are good at photography but aren’t passionate about it or find it as exciting. You will get tired of it eventually and you will only burn yourself out that could lead you to not wanting to pick a camera ever again.

Don’t forget to pin this for the future reference and share to help others! *wink wink*
