Autumn is about to end and as much as I enjoyed it I can’t wait for Christmas to come and grace us with its festiveness. What a sentence that was… Anyways, to somehow mark the end of this beautiful and cosy season I decided to share bits and pieces from my life that made this autumn better. Just a little disclaimer that this post might be a little longer than usual since it looks like I’ve been enjoying quite a few things. Lo and behold, let’s see what I’ve been loving and doing in autumn ’16!
The item I’ve discovered this autumn and actually fell in love with is Irresistible Me straightener that was kindly sent to me. I wrote a review post about it two months or so ago which you can check out here. This is the best hair styler I have used so far. Makes my hair look shiny and doesn’t damage them. Also, it’s very easy to use, plus the result is amazing! You should really give it a go if you are in need of a new straightener. Really recommend this one.
Speaking about music, I’ve been listening to a lot of songs in various genres but the ones that I’ve been replaying over and over again this season were:
Ophelia – The Lumineers
Temporary Love – The Brinks
How To Save a Life – The Fray
Happy Pills – Weathers
Smoke + Mirrors (Deluxe album) – Imagine Dragons | Get the album here!
Now I watched quite a lot of movie this autumn that I haven’t seen before or what I’ve been planning to watch but never did. Mainly for my 101 things in 1001 days challenge which you can find here or under Author page on the navigation panel. I am constantly updating the list by crossing the things I achieve or am in process of doing, so take a look if you are interested in how I’m doing so far. Back to the movies now.
I watched Stuck in Love last month and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it. I suggest you watch it if you haven’t. It’s not one of those romantic movies with the beautiful happy ending and that’s why I enjoyed it so much.
Next movie was Requiem for a Dream which left me shocked in a way. This is one of those movies that leave you so drained emotionally and mentally after watching it that you don’t want to do anything but go to sleep and think it all over. Perfect pick for those who enjoy psychological movies hands down.
Lastly, Bridge of Spies is a movie I would really recommend if you love Tom Hanks and his acting. Also, if you have a slight interest in history or Cold War. Incredible movie with such an amazing ideas behind and lines worth hearing. The line from the movie that stuck with me the most was “Would it help?”. It’s a repeated phrase through the movie which is used when one doesn’t appear affected or worried about the situation and whenever he is asked why he’s not concerned about the matter that should deeply affect him, his answer is “Would it help?”. It’s something to think about, especially if you constantly overthink things or find yourself worrying about something you can’t change.
Yeah, I finally watched Game of Thrones and I got a bit obsessed. No wonder here. That’s why I need to stay away from tv shows. It always ends up with me getting obsessed and having no social life whatsoever. Game of Thrones is a great show, I’m not even going to talk a lot about it because I’m most likely to get carried away and we don’t want that. If you haven’t watched it, please, do.
I hope you didn’t think that I won’t include food in my favourites. Pumpkin soup is the dish I’ve been cooking and eating the most this autumn. I cannot imagine an autumn season without it. Halloween, pumpkin soup and scarves makes an ultimate autumn kit. Also, been enjoying hot apple pie with ice cream on the side as well. You can find a recipe I shared last year here. Simply amazing.
I just had to include my trip to Krakow in my autumn favourites. It was such a great and memorable trip that made me want to visit more and more countries. Poland’s towns have the most beautiful architecture I have ever seen. You can read more about Krakow from my summer trip here. I am yet to write a post about this trip, so please bare with me. I’m trying my best to find time to complete everything I need from Blogmas to university assignments. But I’ll write it eventually.
The highlight of this autumn was definitely getting a cat. It’s Blue Scottish Fold with straight ears and it’s a ball of sunshine. We named him Joker and I don’t even know why, haha. He loves attention and always wants to play which is cute. But the thing is that he’s quite a distraction when I want to work or study. Always jumps on my keyboard, walks on it, pushes things on the ground, walks around and demands someone to play with him. Love him anyways and so happy that we got him.
I can’t even express how much I love scarves and how cosy they are. I own way too many and I usually get attached to only one for quite some time. I just can’t help it. Autumn without a scarf is not an autumn. Add cosy sweaters, boots, and red lipstick to make my favourite autumn look. Plus you can use a scarf as a pillow on a trip, as a blanket when cold or as a shield from rain if you forget an umbrella. Basically, if you have a scarf you have nothing to fear.
What favourites without beauty products? The one beauty product that I’m still obsessed with and can’t go a day without is The Body Shop lightening drops. If you still haven’t tried them, you need to. This thing is a lifesaver for me. Having quite a pale shade of skin is a nightmare when you’re looking for a new foundation. So many shades and none of them are fair enough for me! This is where Lightening Drops come in and save the day. You only need few drops and it’s all fixed. Doesn’t affect a consistency of foundation in any way, only adjusts the shade. Love it.
My love for tea tree oil will forever exist. I swear it’s like a magical potion or something. Makes all the changes in no time, especially when it comes to skin problems. This thing helps so much when you get a major breakout, it makes all those spots get dry and disappear in few days. Can’t recommend it enough. I was using The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil but since I finished it, I picked up the one by Australian Bodycare. It’s a pure oil what means that I have to dilute it with water in order to use it on my skin. Works wonders, give it a go if you haven’t already. You can find one here!
Event or rather events that I’ve been loving this autumn were basketball games of my hometown team Žalgiris. I went to three games and watched few at home. I love the atmosphere you get in the arena when our team plays. So many people and all of them are supporting these players no matter if they win or loose. For I am not a sports person but I do enjoy watching basketball a lot. It brings out many emotions and is a nice way to just relax and forget about other problems that you may have in your life. It’s like a little escape from my daily routine kind of thing.
The achievement of this autumn is hands down the relaunch of The Nerdy Me. I’ve been planning it for so long and put a lot of money, time and effort in it. I can only hope that it doesn’t go to waste any time soon. There are still few things that need to be done on TNM like those pages that I STILL haven’t done… I swear I’m going to do that soon. Overall, I’m very happy with the way this blog looks now and I’d love to hear your opinions too. Do you like it? What do you hate about it? What you think I should consider doing? Maybe few ideas about the content? I’d like to hear anything you have to say about The Nerdy Me. You can do that in the comments section, by contacting me by email or any social media platform. Feedback is important to me.
