The Nerdy Me’s Summer Bucket List 2018 + Free Printable

Better late than never, eh?

A year ago I made a summer bucket list for 2017 and as this summer started to reach the middle I realised that I haven’t written one for this summer. How not-blogger-like for me.

So I sat down and made a list of things I want to do until the very end of this summer. Keeping my broken wallet in mind, I had to leave some things off the list. Let’s be honest here, I am not going to score a week-long trip to Italy for 10 euros even with my ridiculously amazing travel saving tips.

If you’re struggling with budget-friendly activity ideas for your summer bucket list, this post just might help you out a bit. Grab a notebook with a pen and let’s get started!

By the way, I have an amazing free printable for you at the end of this blog post, so stay tuned for that.

The Nerdy Me’s Summer Bucket List 2018

#1 – Watch a sunrise at the seaside

I’d love to travel to the Lithuanian seaside this summer. It’s been quite awhile since my last trip there and I want to enjoy it as much as I can since I’ll be living in Hungary for at least 5 months from September. Plus, the seaside is the best place to catch a sunrise. Take a look at the photo below that I took two years ago.

#2 – Enjoy festival life

I simply cannot imagine my summer without a music festival. I’ll be going to the biggest music festival in Lithuanian for the 3rd time and I’m so pumped for it, you have no idea. Some of the line-ups include Rita Ora, George Ezra, Rudimental, Duke Dumont, Beatrice, GJan and many more fantastic artists. The excitement is real.

#3 – Host a barbecue party

I’m thinking grilled chicken, veggies, frozen margaritas, nice background music and a group of good friends or family. I’ve been thinking of hosting a barbecue party for a few weeks now and I think I could pull it off. Plus, it could be like a little farewell party before my upcoming semester in Hungary.

#4 – Camping trip

I probably annoyed my whole circle of friends and family with my whining about having a camping trip this summer. I can’t remember the last time I went camping. Maybe it was two years ago? I am craving some s’mores, sitting by the bonfire and enjoy the wildlife. If I won’t succeed at convincing someone to go camping with me, at least I’ll be camping at the music festival…

#5 – A week without an internet

I just got back from a three days kayaking trip in Poland where I turned off my internet for the whole trip, and I haven’t felt this recharged in a long time. Last summer I failed to have a week without an internet due to all the things that I’ve been doing but this time I have zero plans apart from the music festival, so I’ll be definitely turning off my internet for a week.

#6 – Make homemade ice cream

Since I won’t be trying any Italian gelato anytime soon – eff student budget life – I decided to try and make homemade ice cream this summer. I’ve only tried making popsicles in the past, but this summer I want to expand my expertise to say. I’ve been eyeing some delicious looking ice cream recipes from The Domestic Geek YouTube channel that I can’t wait to try out. It will either go very good or very bad.

#7 – Watch movies under the stars

Every year there are lots of local communities or organization that open an outdoor cinema in the parks or other public areas during the summer. It’s like a little tradition for me and my mom to go and watch movies near the Kaunas castle. I saw the list of movies that will be shown this year and I’m quite excited about some of them.

#8 – Learn a bit of Hungarian

As you may have already known – as if I haven’t been talking about it everywhere – I am going to study in Budapest, Hungary for 5 months starting from September. Thus I feel like I should know at least some of the words/phrases before going there. I know I’ll pick a bit of Hungarian while staying there but I want to be able to say the most basic things from my first day there. Plus, I love learning languages.

#9 – Go hiking as much as possible

I said it like a thousand times already but I’ll say it again: I love hiking. It’s something I simply adore and could do every single day. Last summer I went hiking in Slovakia and participated in a 50km hiking challenge. This year I’ll be hiking 45km distance as 50km hike will be held in September and sadly, I won’t be in Lithuania at that time. So I want to have several hikes throughout the summer.

#10 – Read some books

I set my Goodreads reading challenge to 40 books and I’ve only read 6 so far. That’s a very good example of how I like to leave the things for the last minute… I’ve been neglecting reading for a few months now and I’m not proud of that. So one of the things I really want to do this summer is picking some new books and read them before the end of the summer.
