Christmas have come to my town about a month ago, however, I haven’t visited the main Christmas Tree until recently. Every year the town tries to create different and unique Christmas tree, usually using technologies and tools that we use every day. One year they made a Christmas Tree out of plastic water cups, there was a year when they used old CDs as well. Some people complain that they want a normal traditional Christmas Tree and some praise such creativity and unique way of decorating it. I am one of the latter ones.
This year creators of Christmas Tree didn’t disappoint me any bit. They created Christmas Tree – Carousel and it’s the most beautiful and adorable thing ever. The tree itself is made out of smaller Christmas trees and the ground part of it is a real spinning carousel with horse figures to sit on, little tables with chairs and swings. Brings back so many lovely childhood memories.
The tree is decorated with pieces of CDs and lights of course. There are angels and other decorations that still remind of a traditional Christmas Tree. Music is being played all day and all night, usually, Christmas themed. Also, there are little kiosks where you can buy handmade souvenirs, delicious doughnuts, pancakes and mulled wine. Crepes with Nutella and banana are the winners for me.
The whole town this year did a fantastic job at creating a festive environment. There are lights, decorations everywhere! Even the castle of Kaunas is decorated with lights which they never used to decorate. You just can’t escape the feel of Christmas spirit in Kaunas!
I am yet to visit Vilnius, the capital, tree but I saw photos here and there, it looks beautiful as well. They went kind of traditional way but it’s still a pretty sight to see. It has been even picked as one of the most beautiful trees in Europe! Also, I went to Berlin two weeks ago and I’m sure you all know that by now. So, expect a long and photo heavy post soon about it. Christmas is real there.
Have you visited your town’s main Christmas Tree?
