Having Fun in Liberty Picnic + Planning A Day Trip Tips
 Holla, amigos!

Last Saturday I had a pleasure attending Liberty Picnic in my hometown and celebrating the freedom together with over 20,000 people from all around Lithuania. So I decided to share few moments from the picnic with you, guys.

The picnic was created as a ‘festival of ideas’ where people could discuss important matters of our country such as economy, culture, education and so on with important people from our government.

I myself decided to attend few panels about Brain Drain problem, Higher Education reform and fight with alcohol. All topics were super important for today’s Lithuania and needed to be discussed widely.

There were many organisations, sports events, food corner and, of course, lots of music artists for all tastes. The event lasted all day and I had a lot of fun there. It's good to see that so many young and not so young people care about our country, politics and the whole situation in the world right now. The slogan of this festival was #ValstybėEsuAš which basically translates to "The State Is Me". Meaning that every one of us forms our country and we all, as citizens, have to take care of it and create it. Since the whole festival, Liberty Picnic, took part from the early morning to the very midnight, I decided to also include few tips in this post when it comes to planning a day trip. Some of the people came to this picnic from the other side of the country, so I think it's a perfect example of a lovely 'day trip'. Also, I love having day trips myself on the weekends or days off. I just think that this kind of trips are not only super fun to have but also quite relaxing. So what do I need to think about when I start planning a day trip? I'm glad you asked. I just think that this kind of trips are not only super fun to have but also quite relaxing. So what do I need to think about when I start planning a day trip? I'm glad you asked. Here're the main ingredients to a successful day trip:

1. Interesting location

The first thing you need to do is decide where you want to go on this day trip. I usually opt for a nice trip to a national park, forest or somewhere I haven’t been before. You can even decide on few places and plan a little road trip.

Some examples from my life:

2. Food & Drinks

You can’t have a successful day trip without a good food. What I like to do is make have a little picnic during my day trips. They are fun to prepare for and let’s be real here, you can never go wrong with a picnic.

Everyone loves picnics.

Picnic Day

If you need a bit of guidance when it comes to preparation of a picnic, take a look at lovepicnics.co.uk. They offer a lot of reviews of picnic baskets and accessories, plus give lots of good tips and information on planning a picnic.

And for the food, the basic ones could be: sandwiches, snacks (berries, fruits, nuts, cookies), lemonade, water and whatever you enjoy snacking and eating when on the trip.

 3. Essentials

Now, when you have all your trip destination planned, food and drinks packed, all you need to do is take these essentials:
  • Good company – for laughs and good time
  • Camera – for capturing memories
  • Appropriate clothing – comfortable shoes and clothes based on the weather
  • Money – you can never know what may come up
  • Smile – you’re going on an adventure, be happy about that!

And that’s all! This is all you need to have a wonderful day trip. Make sure you have all of these covered and you’ll have an awesomesauce time.

Does that word make you cringe just as much as it makes me? Awesomesauce, I mean. Who even invented it…

Anyways, I’d love to hear about your day trips and how you plan them 😉

Do you enjoy day trips? Where do you go?

What are your essentials for a perfect picnic day?
