As you already know, I finished school last week and to celebrate this milestone in my life, I and my good friends decided to visit Trakai. It is one of the most visited towns in Lithuania that offers spectacular views of Trakai Castle. This is an island castle surrounded by Galve Lake. The castle was built in the XV century and was one of the main centres of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Now I won’t go too much into historical details as not many appreciate them. Let’s see what I did there instead.
I must admit, it’s not my first time visiting Trakai. I had several trips with my school there and my family as well. However, I always am mesmerised by the beauty of it and an amount of tourists it actually manages to gather. The castle itself is now a museum and you can visit it, explore and find out more about the history of Lithuania. We did visit it but save to say that we didn’t go through all the rooms since we already have visited it few times and we pretty much knew all of it.
However, if you are visiting it for the first time, I highly suggest to go through every room there is and book a guide to tell you interesting stories and explain everything more in depth. The price of an entrance is 6 euros per person and 3 euros for students. Also, you have to pay 1,5 euros fee to be able to photograph or film in the castle. I know that it isn’t the cheapest place but I would recommend paying those 1,5 euros to have fantastic photos. You won’t regret it, trust me.
After a walk at the castle, we decided to stroll around it on the outside and make some photos together. It was so much fun and I can’t remember the last time we spent so much time together and laughed for so long.
Next, we took a walk around the park of Trakai. It wasn’t a big park but definitely provided us fantastic views of the lake and surroundings of Trakai. We found a swing on the little hill and just couldn’t pass the opportunity to swing a bit and make incredible photos. I could seriously live there, it is so peaceful and silent. I bet the landscape is even more beautiful in the sunset or sunrise.
We didn’t eat anywhere, we packed our own food since we are broke AF right now, haha. But I didn’t complain since I still managed to have an incredible time with my friends. I just wish the weather was nicer to us and the sun was shining. It was very cloudy and quite cold actually. But it didn’t kill the mood. I got a magnet too! Remember when I said that I’ll try to collect them not from the abroad but from my country’s cities too in my magnets collection post? I kept my promise.
One thing you need to know about Trakai is that it is incredibly hard to find a parking lot, so locals are providing parking spaces in their yards. We parked our car for 2 euros/all day and that is quite a good deal!
